Job overview
- Work with the bereavement specialist midwife and the Clinical Governance Team to provide a comprehensive clerical support service
- Responsibility for data entry and maintenance of database systems, to ensure that the directorate is complaint with all internal and external reporting requirements; this will include MBRRACE and Child Death overview panels.
- Working in partnership with Data Analysts
- Assists in the organisation of workload management - word processing, distributing and filing etc.
- Coordinate records/presentations for meetings
- Liaison with clinical and admin staff both within and outside the department
- Coordinate bereavement meetings
- Contact with patients and other relevant external agencies & extensive contact with GP's patients and other relevant external agencies
Main duties of the job
· Liaison with staff both within and outside the department, contact with GPs patients, families and other relevant external agencies
· Responsibility for providing and receiving sensitive information requiring tact, empathy and diplomacy
· Updating the bereavement tracker and taking minutes of meetings
· Arranging meetings with families and keeping track of patient feedback
· Supporting with data entry
· Respond to a high volume of external/internal enquires via personal, written and telephone queries
· Responsibility for implementing instructions involving liaison with patients, families, hospitals, GPs and other agencies in connection to patients and their care
· Excellent communication skills required
· Understanding of legal standards and requirements

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good level of general education(to at least GCSE level or equivalent)
- NVQ3 in Administration or equivalent experience
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
- Advanced keyboard skills required to manage complex on-screen tasks with complete accuracy, including internet searching, retrieval & sending emails
- Has a demonstrable record of recording data and maintaining databases and other sources of information
- Good grammatical skills (both verbal and written)
- A knowledge of a range of administration skills and practices
- Previous experience with PAS/ICS or hospital database systems
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience of working in NHS
- Knowledge of GCIS hospital system
Skills, Abilities & Attributes
Essential criteria
- Ability to prepare reports as requested
- Able to communicate clearly with patients, relatives, healthcare professionals
