Job overview
The post holder will be a member of the Maternity Immunisation Team. They will undertake duties as directed by PGD’s, Trust Policy and the Maternity management team ensuring the provision of a high standard of Care and Health Promotion. The care will be provided in a clinic and ward setting.
Main duties of the job
To deliver Pertussis and Seasonal Flu Vaccinations to pregnant women during the antenatal period
• To complete assessment of mothers and babies as guided by Trust Proforma and PDG Policy’s for pertussis and seasonal flu immunisations
• To evaluate and implement appropriate advice, support and/or referral for women and babies as per PGD and within scope of professional knowledge and practice
• To adhere to Trust policy for the safe administration of vaccines
• To adhere to Trust policy for safe storage of vaccines
• To report adverse reaction following administrations of vaccine through the Trust reporting process
• To report and adhere to Trust Policy if a drug error made
• To correctly dispose of sharps as per Trust Policy
• To advise women/parents on care of site post vaccination
• To advise on signs of adverse reaction post vaccination of mum or baby and the action required
• To ensure that robust communication systems exist which underpin effective service provision
