Job overview
Responsibility for co-ordination of patient’s elective admission.
Responsibility for daily liaison with consultants and surgeons across sites to ensure elective inpatient theatre sessions are consistently booked with maximum utilisation, taking into consideration both clinical urgency and time on the waiting list.
Main duties of the job
- The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring that elective theatre lists are compiled and updated on Cerner (or any other Trust systems) and reviewed/signed off by the relevant surgical teams/General Management.
- Contact patients offering them a choice of admission dates and agree with them the date of admission in line with the Patient Access Policy.

We currently have a vacancy for a permanent Access Coordinator within the directorate of Head & Neck.
You will work closely with the Service Manager, Team Lead and clinical teams and will be responsible for managing elective theatre lists as well as supporting the management team to ensure that patients are seen within the national targets for 18 weeks RTT and cancer.
The successful applicant will be a team player; you will be a confident and clear communicator, with an excellent telephone manner and customer service skills.
This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a dynamic team and to be the first point of contact for your clinicians.
Knowledge of national targets (RTT, cancer and diagnostics) and hospital PAS and EPR systems are essential.
