Job overview

This full/part time post provides an exciting opportunity to make a real contribution to the provision of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department at London Northwest University Healthcare.

The post holder will deliver a high standard of care to patients undergoing Oral and Maxillofacial surgical treatment.  The post holders will be responsible for the assessment of patient care needs, and implementation and evaluation of the programme of the care. The post holders are required to work as part of a team committed to delivering and improving a high standard of care.

This is a part time permanent post working across Northwick Park Hospital and Ealing Hospital. 

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be expected to participate actively in the diagnosis, management and follow-up of patients. The main role for the right candidate would be to run oral surgery consultation clinics, minor operation sessions under local anaesthetic independently. We have a dedicated oral surgery department nurse, as well as outpatient nurses who assist in the oral surgery clinics and minor operations. Further opportunities will be available for the right candidate to progress into operating independently for theatre sessions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This post requires a self-motivated doctor with some Oral & Maxillofacial surgery experience to work with other trainee doctors and consultants to care for the emergency and elective patients of OMFS and Head & Neck. A broad based knowledge in all aspects of OMFS is beneficial but the weekly timetable can be adjusted considering the experience of the successful candidate and the needs of the service.

The successful candidate will work as a member of the middle grade team who all are both medically and dentally qualified doctors supporting services across the network.

  • Full Registration with GDC
  • Evidence of ongoing medical education – FDS / MFDS
Desirable criteria
  • Higher relevant degree

Experience

  • Minimum one year experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (SHO level or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant post registration experience at SHO level or above (or equivalent)
