Job overview

The posts responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for providing professional leadership and supervision in managing and developing procurement services based on the NPH site.
  • Plays a pivotal role in the increased uptake of contract variance claims across the Trust.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Trust adheres to standing financial instructions and CMU contracts when procuring medicines.
  • Responsible for the Induction and Training for all staff working in procurement to work to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Responsible for the effective and efficient management of pharmacy procurement services to wards, departments and patients.
  • Play a pivotal role in education, training and appraisal of pharmacy staff in all aspects of good distribution practice.
  • Provides clinical expertise on drug usage in line with National and Trust policies.

Main duties of the job

·         Lead on cross site pharmacy procurement services including contract changes, contract variance claims, shortages and recalls.

·         Managing the procurement team on base site (including band 6 pharmacy technicians, procurement and invoicing officers).

·         Responsible for the scaling of contract variance claims.

·         Key liaison and responsible for roll out and management of  Trust wide procurement contract changes.

·         Tutoring role for trainee pharmacists or pharmacy pre-registration student technicians

·         Training of trainee pharmacists, pharmacy pre-registration student technicians and new staff

·         Manage Induction of new staff

·         Recruitment of Pharmacy staff within the department
