Job overview

·         The Pharmacy Purchasing Officer provides clerical and administrative support to the pharmaceutical ordering system, processing over 20,000 orders per year for medicines throughout the organisation.

·         Responsible for placing and processing orders for pharmaceutical products, validating invoice prices and processing these for payment.

Main duties of the job

·         Responsible for placing orders for medicines on the pharmacy stock control computer system in line NHS Contracts and sending through GHX Powergate.

·         Liaises with suppliers to source products, which may involve arranging urgent deliveries and liaising with the Pharmacy Technicians for Procurement, if difficulties arise.

·         Updating the departmental bulletin board with “To Follow” information and cascading information as appropriate to managers.

·         Sourcing suppliers, raising, processing, chasing, confirming and checking prices of medicines.

·         Passing invoices and credits for payment and maintaining a database for non-stock orders and payments to facilitate budgetary management.

·         Filing of purchase orders to correct locations and assisting with the storage and retention of Pharmacy documentation.

·         Assist in the counting and ordering of Medical gases.

·         Assist in processing invoices.
