Job overview
Job Summary
Senior Assistant Technical Officers may work in the Dispensary or Drug Distribution areas of the pharmacy. Duties include stock management, ward top‑up services (including Omnicell replenishment), labelling, dispensing, and maintaining cleanliness and order.
The role includes completing HEE Medicines Optimisation modules for checking Patients’ Own Drugs and transcribing medicines for inpatient use. Responsibilities also involve reception duties such as receiving prescriptions, processing charges, and handling enquiries in line with departmental procedures.
The post holder assists in dispensing for inpatients, outpatients, wards, and departments, supporting workflow and robot use where applicable. Additional tasks include receiving requisitions, complying with GDP, MHRA and WDL requirements, managing non‑clinical enquiries, maintaining good housekeeping, checking expiry dates, rotating stock, unpacking deliveries, and resolving discrepancies according to SOPs.

An opportunity has arisen for a Pharmacy Assistant to join the Pharmacy team at LNWH. The Pharmacy Department is well established, developed, modern and well resourced, and therefore we are looking for a committed Pharmacy Assistant who will contribute to our ongoing success. You will work as part of a friendly and supportive team of Technical staff and Pharmacists.

Education/Qualification
Essential criteria
- Good standard of education, GCSE or equivalent
- Numerate and fluent in the English language
Desirable criteria
- QCF level 2 in Pharmacy services
Knowledge & Experience

- Dealing with the public/ healthcare professionals.

- Dispensing in a hospital pharmacy
