Job overview
We are excited to offer an opportunity for a motivated and experienced Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dynamic Cardiac Catheter Lab team, working across both Northwick Park and Ealing Hospitals. This key leadership role involves providing clinical and managerial oversight in the Catheterisation Laboratory while also leading the development and delivery of a nurse-led clinic, supporting the Trust’s vision to expand advanced nursing practice and enhance patient access to specialist cardiovascular care.
The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality care across the full patient pathway—from pre-assessment to post-procedure follow-up. This is a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment that demands a proactive and patient-focused leader with strong clinical expertise, excellent interpersonal skills, and a proven track record of leadership in cardiology.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Leadership & Operational Oversight
Provide effective clinical leadership and day-to-day operational oversight of the Cath Lab across both sites. -
Staff Management & Development
Lead and support the nursing and support team, overseeing clinical performance, appraisals, and professional development. -
Patient Pathway Coordination
Coordinate and manage patient care pathways, ensuring efficient resource utilisation. -
Quality, Audit & Risk Management
Lead the implementation and evaluation of audit, quality improvement initiatives, and risk management processes. -
Resource & Budget Management
Manage delegated budgets responsibly, contributing to cost improvement programmes (CIPs) and the QIPP agenda. -
Medication Safety & Infection Control
Ensure the safe handling, storage, and administration of medications. Maintain a clean, safe clinical environment, adhering to infection prevention at all times. -
Professional Standards & Role Modelling
Act as a visible and professional role model, demonstrating clinical expertise, leadership, and excellent interpersonal skills in line with NMC standards and Trust values. -
Patient-Centred Care
Promote a culture of compassionate, respectful, and person-centred care. -
Governance & Compliance
Ensure all nursing practice within the Cath Lab adheres to the NMC Code, local Trust policies, and national clinical guidelines, upholding the highest standards of professional conduct.

- • Substantial clinical and managerial experience at Band 6
- • NMC Pin Number
- • Mentorship course or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- • Working Towards Masters or interested to do so
- • ALS holder
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Relevant clinical and managerial experience in a senior position in a cardiac catheter lab
- • Experience in change management/ influencing change
Desirable criteria
- • Experience in performing nurse led procedures such as ILR
- • Skilled at history taking and physical assessment
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Demonstrates understanding of principles and practice of Clinical Governance, e.g. Risk Management
- • Able to manage a team including developing potential and performance management

- • Knowledge of change management.
