You may also be expected to work on a shift system across a 24-hr period seven days a week, primarily assessing individuals who present with mental health crisis.

Main duties of the job

You will be working as part of a service that responds to adults presenting to acute hospital A&E department and patients admitted to medical wards.  The main clinical responsibilities for the service include: the assessment of working age and older adults attending the Accident and Emergency Department and on acute wards with mental health problems; the assessment of people presenting with self-harm; alcohol and substance misuse problems, medically unexplained symptoms, antenatal and postnatal women with serious mental illnesses; to support clinical staff in NMUH working with patients with mental health problems. A significant component of this liaison psychiatry model involves teaching and training.  The team is passionate about promoting good mental health and well-being. We strive to use the expertise and resources within our organisation and through partnership with other organisations to deliver high quality services that are safe and focused on people's recovery journey.
