This is a fixed term locum post for a CAMHS Consultant psychiatrist to join the CYP Day Patient service and the Community Eating Disorders Team, arisen following recent expanding and enhancing of the CYP service.
The postholder will be working alongside specialist MDT teams and joins a group of 7 Consultant Psychiatrists in the all age Vincent Square Eating Disorder Service. Every Consultant has a unique leadership role within the clinical teams/pathways for which they are responsible. Academic, teaching and management interests are strongly encouraged and supported. With appropriate adjustment of responsbilities, the role could be tailored to suit different individual professional interests to support personal development plans. .

Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide psychiatric and medical assessment and management of children and young people with eating disorders receiving care in the CYP Day Programme and Community Eating Disorder team. They will provide clinical leadership and consultation within the Day Programme and provide joint clinical leadership within the Community team alongside the other consultants. They will work collaboratively with colleagues across the service, including the day patient service, as well as other stakeholders, such as acute hospital partners. The post-holder will provide liaison input to paediatric/medical wards according to MEED guidelines.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To provide clinical leadership within the Day Patient and CEDS-CYP teams.
2. To provide consultant responsibility for patient care within these services.
3. To diagnose patients with an ICD10 code at assessment and ensure that these are documented appropriately.
4. Participation in the weekly MDT meetings, providing leadership, supervision and consultation for the teams.
5. Consultation to other members of the multidisciplinary team regarding the management of risk.
6. To work with the team manager to manage flow of referrals, assessments and waiting list.
7. To provide comprehensive initial assessments for complex clients, which may sometimes require travel to paediatric wards in any of the NW London acute hospitals, or specialist ED inpatient units.
8. To provide psychiatric review and management of community and day patients.
9. Liaison input to ChelWest paediatric services.
10. Provide RC cover for ED patients on ChelWest paediatric wards.
11. To develop and sustain good working relationships and effective MEED pathways with Paediatrics.
12. Accessing Tier 4 provision as clinically appropriate and reviewing the management and care of the young person during inpatient admission to ensure the most effective use of resources and appropriate early discharge.
13. To contribute to CPA meetings, as appropriate.
14. To contribute to MHA assessments as appropriate.
15. To support the maintenance of a psychologically minded, open clinic culture.
16. To regularly attend the weekly Staff Group, Continuing Professional Development sessions and Consultant meetings.
17. To manage, and provide training and psychiatric casework supervision for Psychiatry trainees seeking special interest sessions in the service.
18. To provide cross cover for Consultant Psychiatrist colleagues in the Eating Disorder Service.
19. To be an active member of the service line Senior Leadership Team.
20. Work along with other MDT colleagues to develop the CYP ED teams.
21. Participation in the development of new models of service to improve delivery and outcome, taking into account the views of commissioners, service users and evidence of best practice.
22. Participation in development of clinical protocols as required.
23. To maintain accurate and up to date clinical records.
24. To participate in the administration patient information systems and ensure that data are entered in accordance with service policies and guidance.
25. To contribute to collection and monitoring of Clinical Outcome data across the service.
26. To liaise with statutory and non-statutory sector agencies concerning the treatment and management of patients.
27. To ensure discharges are managed in accordance with service policies and guidance.
28. To complete and contribute to the completion of Serious Untoward Incident Reports as required.
29. To work in accordance with service policies and guidelines.
30. Maintaining up to date Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Person specification
Education, Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
- Primary Medical Degree
- Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
- Section 12 MHA Approved Approved Clinician status
Desirable criteria
- MRCPsych (or equivalent)
- An additional post graduate qualification of relevance to (own specialty)
- Inclusion on the Child and Adolescent Specialist Register (or CCT expected within 6 months of interview date)
