Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist-Tower Hamlets_Woodberry Ward
NHS Medical & Dental: Consultant
ELFT has long been recognised as a centre of excellence for mental and health care, innovation and improvement. So it is a very exciting time for you to come and work for us. Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
Job overview
The Trust is seeking a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist to work in the Forensic Service. The post is available due to an expansion in the community forensic service and a consultant psychiatrist leaving the Trust.
This is a whole time 10 PA appointment. The intention is for the postholder to spend approximately 5PAs working on Woodberry Ward and 5PAs in Tower Hamlets. Those interested in part-time or flexible working should though make contact to discuss possible arrangements.
The post holder will join four existing consultants who work in the low secure service. The East London area served by the Trust is one of the most culturally diverse and deprived areas in England and therefore provides significant challenges for the provision of health services. There are high levels of mental health problems, substance misuse, and offending behaviour in the local population.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership to the Tower Hamlets community forensic team, working alongside another 0.5 WTE consultant colleague, and to Woodberry Ward.
Clinical Duties of the Post Holder:
- The post-holder will hold consultant responsibility for approximately half of the patients under the care of the Tower Hamlets Community Forensic Team and for the inpatients on Woodberry Ward.
- Will provide clinical leadership to the Tower Hamlets Community Forensic Team and to Woodberry Ward.
