Job overview

We are continuing to expand our ODP/Anaesthetic Nurse workforce and are therefore looking to recruit Senior Anaesthetic Nurses and Senior ODPs who will play a vital role in the patient journey through Theatres and Anaesthetics ensuring excellent patient care and safety is maintained throughout.

You will form part of a friendly, supportive and innovative Multidisciplinary Team. We have a fantastic, supportive Practice Education Team that will ease you into an exciting, challenging and satisfying role.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 we ask that you are able to provide outstanding Clinical Leadership within the Anaesthetic Team and to guide, empower and encourage the excellent provision of high quality care to children and their families throughout their Theatre journey.

You will be able to challenge and support the training and development of all Learners and colleagues at various levels. You will promote a progressive attitude towards the continual improvement of patient care through research, audit and evidence based practice. Being a role model and expert Clinical Practitioner is also paramount to this Band 6 role .

Academic/Professional qualification/Training

  • NMC Registered Nurse or HCPC Registered Operating Department Practitioner (appropriate to Clinical Speciality)
  • Relevant accredited qualification relating to clinical speciality at post-graduate level
  • Evidence of on-going professional development relating to clinical speciality in addition to primary qualification
  • Assessor or practice supervisor qualification/experience

Experience/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and understanding of diverse backgrounds and perspectives
  • Experience of having worked with acute/chronically sick children or specialised transferrable skills
  • Understanding of professional and current issues in children’s nursing
  • Understanding of Diversity and Inclusion challenges in the workplace
