Job overview
Imperial College Health Care NHS Trust is the largest provider of breast services in north-west London. The breast surgery department sees approximately 21,000 outpatients and undertakes 900 surgical procedures a year. The department provides a broad range of services including daily rapid diagnostic clinics, a comprehensive surgical service which offers the full range of reconstructive options, and a well-established family history clinic. It is an essential service for patients referred from local primary care services as well as the Trust-hosted West of London Breast Screening Service.
We welcome applications for this locum full-time (10PAs) specialist grade doctor post to start in the late summer of 2025. Applicants must be on the GMC’s register with a Licence to Practice or eligible to apply for GMC registration and a Licence to Practice. They require broad clinical experience and expertise in the management of breast patients. They also require broad experience in the management of new breast patients attending rapid diagnostic one-stop clinics.
Main duties of the job
The Breast Surgery Department is looking to appoint a full-time (10 PA) Specialist Grade Doctor on a locum (12 month) contract, to start in the late summer of 2025. The post will be based at Charing Cross Hospital with some activity at St Mary’s Hospital. The post-holder will play a key role in ensuring the department achieves the 28-day Faster Diagnostic Standard and the 62-day treatment target for patients referred with suspected cancer. The post-holder will also be involved in the running of a sector-wide initiative for patients presenting with breast pain only. They will also have involvement in Family History clinics. There is no on-call commitment with this post.
