Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen at London Northwest University Hospital NHS Trust for a forward-thinking, ambitious pre-registration Pharmacy Technician to join our team on a two-year training contract. We are looking for a versatile individual who is able to cope with high pressure situations within the workplace and who demonstrates the ability to adapt to meet an ever advancing service. The successful student must be able to prioritize their own workload and demonstrate flexibility within time constraints. You will rotate through several departments within Pharmacy such as Dispensary, Stores & Distribution, Homecare, Technical Services and Purchasing to gain a full understanding of the service we provide and also gain experience working on wards with our dedicated Medicines Management team.
Main duties of the job
The successful student must be able to prioritize their own workload and demonstrate flexibility within time constraints. You will rotate through several departments within Pharmacy such as Dispensary, Stores & Distribution, Homecare, Technical Services and Purchasing to gain a full understanding of the service we provide and also gain experience working on wards with our dedicated Medicines Management team.
As a pre-registration Pharmacy Technician you will work towards attaining a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians. Successful completion of both courses will enable you to register as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), paving the way for a fulfilling and rewarding career.
We expect candidates to have strong numeracy, literacy and IT skills and a commitment to study. Previous hospital Pharmacy experience and an NVQ/QCF level 2 in Pharmacy would be desirable but are not prerequisites of the post.
You must be able to provide evidence of GCSE grades A*-C (4-9) in Maths, English and Science or Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English with a GCSE in Science.
