Job overview

An exciting  opportunity has arisen for  Paediatric Audiology Clinical lead to join our UKAS accredited Audiology service at London North West University Healthcare Trust.   We are looking for someone to take a leading role within the departmental quality agenda and clinical governance, as well as demonstrating a high level of clinical expertise within complex habilitation of patients within Audiology.  This post is suitable for an experienced Paediatric audiologist, able to work autonomously and as part of the Audiology Team.   

This is an exciting opportunity if you are looking for a new challenge in your career or looking to gain experience  into leadership/managerial role.   The successful candidate will be also be a team lead for our Newborn Hearing screening programme .

The successful applicant will be a passionate clinician with specialist knowledge and experience in paediatric audiology diagnostics and habilitation.    This is a great opportunity to maintain your clinical skills and develop your leadership skills.  You must be able to demonstrate excellent team working and leadership qualities as well as a high level of clinical and communication skills. 

Applicants must be state registered with HCPC as a Clinical Scientist or with the RCCP as an Audiologist. Evidence of clinical supervision of trainees and continuing professional development is also required.

 

 

 

Main duties of the job

JOB SUMMARY
The main purpose of this role is to be clinical expert and lead the service, keeping abreast of the current literature and evidence base to ensure a high quality streamlined service is provided and maintained. The post holder will be responsible for the day to day operational management of the service to include line management of staff.
The post holder will also work in a team of senior staff and together with the Head of Audiology will ensure senior management support is provided across all areas of Audiology, and this may involve deputising for the Head of Audiology.
This role involves highly specialist patient care. All such care will be provided in an effective, caring and compassionate services to patients. The post holder is required to abide by the NHS values and the Constitution.

Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc in Audiology or equivalent
  • MSc in Audiology or equivalent
  • Registered with an appropriate professional body, either RCCP or HCPC
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership or management qualifications

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of current clinical Paediatric Audiology
  • Experience of Electrophysiology testing and reporting
  • Experience of leading service improvement Audits and implementation
  • Experience of networking
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of Budget
