Job overview

Are you looking to advance your skills in gastroenterology, in particular inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) within a leading national centre?  This role within the St Marks dietetic team will provide just that.  The role is suited to someone with strong nutritional support skills who is passionate about the field of gastroenterology.  The St Marks team is a friendly, supportive and dynamic team of dietitians split across Northwick Park and Central Middlesex Hospitals.  This post will be based at Central Middlesex Hospital and will be working alongside an established and highly regarded advanced specialist dietitian, as part of the IBD team.

Main duties of the job

This post will allow you to:

  •  Gain extensive experience and knowledge in gastroenterology and inflammatory bowel disease, including complex gastrointestinal surgery, intestinal failure, management of stomas and pouches within an inpatient and outpatient setting.
  •  Provide specialist care to a caseload of patients on oral, enteral and parenteral nutrition.
  • Manage weekly outpatient & MDT clinics.
  • Work as a key part of the IBD MDT joining ward rounds, MDT meetings and educational sessions.
  • Train dietitians and other health care professionals in this specialist area.
  • Lead and contribute to audit and service development to support evidence-based practice.
  • Develop supervisory skills through student training and supporting colleagues with the care of gastroenterology patients.

Education/qualificiations

Essential criteria
  • Degree in dietetics or equivalent and HCPC registration
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of further postgraduate study in dietetics

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Sound clinical knowledge and experience in Nutrition Support, Gastroenterology including IBD, in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.
  • Experience as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Previous experience of conducting audits and/or research
