We are looking for a dynamic and friendly colleague to join the existing team at Northwick Park Hospital and National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen’s Square.
The applicant will support the current team across both organisations and will be required to undertake general outpatient clinics, specialist epilepsy clinic (NHNN) perform liaison work on the wards, contribute to advice and guidance and triaging of referrals from the primary sector, as well as supervising the clinical fellows and nurse specialists.
Approximately 1500 new outpatients are currently seen each year, and there is a strong local demand for more access to a neurological opinion.

London North West University Healthcare (LNWUH) NHS Trust and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Consultant Neurologist to be based predominantly at Northwick Park Hospital with sessions at the National Hospital of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The department at LNWUHT
The Department of Neurology at LNWUHT currently has a diverse team of 15 Consultant Neurologists across the three hospital sites, with 7 based at Northwick Park Hospital. We are privileged to have four specialist nurses working across the sites, 2 clinical fellows based at Northwick Park and a fully comprehensive Neurophysiology service at Central Middlesex Hospital; inclusive of 2.6 WTE physiologists and a supervising Neurophysiology Consultant.
The Medical Directorate views Neurology services to be a core need both inpatient and outpatient, within the local communities. The post will also be crucial in driving forward the development of Neurology services within the area. This will include the development of Nurse Specialist positions and working with the local Primary Care Trust to enhance access and quality of the service
The Epilepsy Service at Chalfont and NHNN
The Epilepsy Service at NHNN is a multi-professional team attending to approximately 10000 people with epilepsy.
The consultant body works within a multi-disciplinary environment alongside nurse specialists, neuropsychologists, psychiatrists and occupational therapists. There are strong links with the neurosurgery department. The multi-disciplinary team has substantial expertise in the medical and surgical management of epilepsy, contributing to strategic boards across the NHS, including the Association of British Neurologists, and NHS England. At a local level, the team is committed to delivering the NHS Five Year Forward View and new services. The consultant body is nationally and internationally recognised for clinical research.
Sir William Gower Centre is a specialised assessment and treatment centre for people with epilepsy and non-epileptic attack disorder. It is part of the University College Hospitals London NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH), but is located outside of London, in Buckinghamshire. The centre is part of the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) division. The centre is run in partnership with a charity. The centre has an inpatient ward with 26 beds and a separate outpatients service.

Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCP (UK)
- On the Specialist Register in Neurology (or within 6 months of date of interview)
Knowledge and Expertise

- Wide range of experience - including paediatrics and adult
- Broad based training in Neurology and its subspecialties
