Job overview

We are looking for a forward thinking, enthusiastic pharmacist to help lead, deliver and develop inpatient pharmacy services to the surgery wards at Northwick Park hospital. 

 

Senior Specialist Pharmacist for Surgery

This is a part-time post. The post holder will be required to participate in the on-call (back up), weekend, bank holiday and late-night duty rotas. 

Main duties of the job

Key duties include:

·  Manage, provide and develop a safe and effective clinical pharmacy service to the Surgical Directorate wards and clinical areas, in accordance with Trust policies.

· Have oversight of the Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy assistants providing the Pharmacy services to the Surgical directorate.

·    To act as a lead for the training and development of the rotational band 6 and 7 pharmacists during their Surgery rotations.

·      To be a practice tutor and educational facilitator to pharmacists taking the JPB postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice

·    To assist in the training, development and supervision of ward-based Pharmacy technicians and assistants

·    To work as an independent prescriber, or work towards gaining the relevant qualification, in accordance with a defined scope of practice agreed by the NMP Group

·   To help with multidisciplinary training to nurses, doctors and other Healthcare professionals

·  Plan, organise and conduct audit within both the pharmacy department and the Surgical directorate.

·  Participate in the provision of general pharmacy services such as dispensing for discharge, weekends, public holidays, late duty and on-call duties

Registered Pharmacist with GPhC

  • GPhC registered

• Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
