Job overview
The role will involve a mix of independent working in particular areas or specialities, and team working with Radiology staff (i.e., consultants, registrar, radiographers, admin and clerical, nurses). The
PACS & RIS Administrator Site lead will liaise with Imaging Operations
Managers, Radiology clinical leads, external providers, internal staff, and
clinicians throughout the Trust. The post holder will have and demonstrate an in depth specialised knowledge and expertise in radiology IT systems, as this role will be responsible for advice to users, comprehensive system management including peripheral interfaces, software, infrastructure, and storage and delivery of high-quality images required for diagnosis and treatment

Main duties of the job
Duties and responsibilities of this post include supervising the day-to-day
running of the Radiology IT Systems, which include the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Radiology Information System (RIS), Viewpoint, Image Exchange Portal (IEP), and electronic order comms for Imaging for all Royal Free London Locations including the Community Diagnostic Centre located at Finchley Memorial Hospital. This post holder will be based at the Royal Free Hospital. The PACS & RIS Administrator Site Lead will be based at Royal Free Hospital however the post holder will be required to work across all Royal Free London sites if required.

Essential criteria
- Degree in IT or an applied science (Biology, Radiography,Physics) or equivalent NHS
- PACS/RIS administration experience, specifically CRIS and Philips/Carestream PACS
Desirable criteria
- Requires knowledge of hospital computer systems, radiology modalities and IT or equivalent experience.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and experience with NHS Targets and Care pathways
- Proven knowledge of a variety of Trust computer applications relevant to post.
- Substantial experience in the system administration of the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS) and it’s management during downtime (both planned and unplanned)
- Intermediate knowledge of Patient Administration System (PAS)
Desirable criteria
- Advanced Organisational skills
- Ability to work single-handed
- Ability to make decisions and work unsupervised
- Able to train others and explain tasks and to delegate work as appropriate
- Experience in performing Quality Assurance tests and management data
- Experience in dealing with third party providers in outsourcing of radiology reporting
