Who are we?

We are 4 critical care units spread over 3 sites: University College Hospital (UCH) London has 35 beds and is a general unit taking patients from our busy emergency department, after major surgery, from the wards as well as tertiary referrals from across the UK and abroad. Westmoreland Street has 9 beds and takes mostly high risk and complex surgical patients. We have recently opened our new state-of-the-art cancer facility which has 10 beds and takes primarily haematology patients. Our new PACU is located on the 6th Floor at UCH site taking high risk surgical patients undergoing Head & Neck, Gynae, colorectal and upper GU surgery.

Why work with us?

National audits show that we have some of the best outcomes in the country, and, within the Trust, the Unit gained Exemplar Ward status more quickly than any other department. Several of our nurses have been finalists or have won awards at the UCLH Trust Excellence Awards.

You will be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team, including the country’s leading critical care research and development team, the unit psychologist, the authors of Europe’s best selling critical care nursing textbook, experts in quality improvement and human factors; led by our matron and supported by a dedicated education team.

· Rotations across all four sites

· Internal “ Introduction to Critical Care Course”

· Access to the Adult Critical Care Course at MSc/BSc level (current provider LSBU)
