Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Research Data Manager to work in the Research & Development Delivery Team (based within Barnet, Enfield & Haringey boroughs). This role involves working across multiple services within North London NHS Foundation Trust (NLFT) to ensure people with mental health, dementia, learning disabilities, neurodegenerative and neurology problems have access to research opportunities.

The post holder will provide support to the team’s Clinical Research Assistants, Clinical Research Practitioners, and Research Delivery Managers, carrying out administrative and data management duties in accordance with ICH GCP and local regulations. There will also be scope to shadow on patient-facing visits to support progression into band 5 roles and beyond.

The role in our team also provides a good platform to develop your clinical and leadership skills, with the support of your manager and the wider team. For example, previous members of the team have now gone onto senior roles within the NHS, completing PhDs and DClinPsy training. We also work with Research Delivery teams in other North London trusts, under Noclor Research Office, so this provides opportunities for shared learning and creative thinking. In addition, we are an outgoing and social team who encourage, motivate, and support one another.

Main duties of the job

The post holder’s main responsibilities will be Supporting with data collection and data entry to research studies running in the trust – these may include studies in Adult Mood & psychosis, Dementia and Older Adults, and CAMHS; Monitoring and maintenance of electronic data capture systems (EDC) and site files; Managing participants payments; Providing administrative support and updating spreadsheets and local databases of clinical trial activity.

There will also be opportunities to be involved in additional clinical tasks, such as screening medical records to identify potential participants, calling service users to invite them to take part in research, triaging queries relating to research from clinicians, and some management of financial processes (like participant payments and study invoicing).

Other responsibilities will include ordering research supplies and managing room bookings. The post holder will be expected to develop skills and knowledge relating to the conduct of clinical trials principally for the Mental Health and Dementia trials. The post holder will work within the guidelines of ICH GCP at all times.

This is a chance to gain experience and knowledge of clinical research in the area of mental health. The role would suit somebody who has limited research experience and is looking to develop their knowledge and skills in this field.
