Job overview
We are looking to recruit to a fixed term maternity cover post.
We welcome applications from soon to be qualified applicants with relevant experience. In addition to this post, the team consists of 0.8 WTE Lead, 0.6 8a Clinical Psychologist, 2 WTE Clinical Behaviour Specialists, 1 WTE Assistant Clinical Behaviour Specialist and 0.6 Art Therapist. We also take trainee Clinical Psychologists and Art Therapists on placement with us. The MDT consists of Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Community Nurses, Physiotherapists & Psychiatrists.
We work with clients with Severe and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities who have unmet health needs and with clients with Mild or Moderate Learning Disabilities if they are not able to access mainstream services with reasonable adjustments.
We work collaboratively with the MDT and have several virtual pathways within the team that focus either on Behaviours that Challenge, Complex Health or Dementia. The Newham team sits within a Learning Network of three other Community LD Teams across ELFT services that cover other boroughs. This is a rich resource of professional support.

Essential
Essential criteria
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent (statement of equivalence or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) and able to demonstrate eligibility for BPS CPsychol (Chartered Psychologist)
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist (for newly qualified candidates we are aware that this may be still being processed and appropriate actions can be taken in these cases)
Desirable criteria
- Training in clinical supervision for doctoral clinical psychology trainees.
Essential
Essential criteria
- Experience of assessment, formulation and intervention with people (and families/carers) with a learning disability.
- Knowledge of the assessment of capacity to consent and issues pertinent to people with learning disabilities.
Desirable criteria
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team for people with a learning disability.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
