Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Cardiology Department as a Band 7 Chief Cardiac Clinical Physiologist.

Our Cardiology Department performs a wide range of non-invasive diagnostics. We are a busy department that has opened some of our diagnostics to direct access from Primary Care.

Successful candidates will need to hold accreditation from the British Society of Echocardiography in Adult Echocardiography, or equivalent.

**Please note** - The echo service may be extended to include weekend working in the future as part of a 6/7 day service. The successful candidate will be required to participate in weekend cover.

Main duties of the job

  • To work closely with other cardiac physiologists, the Lead Clinicians in Cardiology, Consultant Cardiologists and service manager.
  • To be involved in the provision of a range of techniques for recording, measuring and monitoring physiological changes in patients and preparing reports on the results obtained in Adult Echocardiography.
  • Be encouraged to undertake further training in the above techniques.
  • To communicate with patients, relatives and other staff in a professional manner, concerning the assessment, treatment and progress of patients, whilst ensuring respect for the patient’s wishes, and ensuring confidential information. To act as an efficient role model and resources advisor to colleagues. To have a sound understanding of the concepts of quality assurance and to develop, implement and maintain quality standards.
  • Be involved in the training and assessment of the junior members of staff, taking a leading role for physiologist lead Exercise Tolerance test training.

Working for our organisation

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital in the London Borough of Hillingdon and offers a wide range of services, including accident and emergency, inpatient care, day surgery, outpatient clinics, and maternity services. The Trust’s services at Mount Vernon Hospital include routine day surgery, delivered at a modern treatment centre, a minor injuries unit, and outpatient clinics.

The safety and well-being of our patients and staff is paramount and we are making urgent improvements to address this – particularly in infection prevention and control. We are focused on ensuring that our hospitals provide high quality, safe, and compassionate care, while we drive forward with the building of the new Hillingdon Hospital.
