The Physiotherapy Service within the Surgical and Medical Teams is looking for an enthusiastic forward thinking HCPC registered Physiotherapist to join our well-established teams.
The specialist rotations offered on the Band 6 rotation are Cardiology, Intensive Care and Surgical High Dependency, Specialist Surgery including Hepatobiliary, Renal Transplant, Head and Neck Surgery, Acute Respiratory Medicine including Non Invasive Ventilation with Medical High Dependency Unit, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Respiratory Outpatients assessing and treating patients with Hyperventilation Syndrome and Bronchiectasis.
Your role as a Band 6 in these clinical areas will be active involvement in the development of the acute services. You will be able to consolidate and develop clinical, supervisory and non-clinical skills.
As the rotational Band 6 Physiotherapist you will be able to demonstrate recent experience working across a wide variety of clinical fields in particular within the acute medical and surgical setting.
Main duties of the job
The teams are led by highly specialist Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists and supporting a wide skill mix of clinicians within the acute setting. We promote close MDT working allowing a holistic approach to patient care, joint therapy working and developments.
The teams are proactive in the development of both staff and service and are committed to CPD providing regular Multi-Disciplinary IST and specialist uni-disciplinary support and education with regular appraisals and supervision.
You will consolidate knowledge and develop clinical and non-clinical skills within a supportive environment and be actively involved in the development of the acute services, supervision of junior staff and student education.

Educational / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Recognised BSC Honours degree in physiotherapy or equivalent
- State registration via Health and Care Professions Council
- Evidence of relevant post graduate training including attendance at relevant specialist courses
Desirable criteria
- Involvement in special interest group
- Registered member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Previous postgraduate clinical experience as a junior in a broad rotational post
- Specialist knowledge of physiotherapy assessment and treatment technique
- Working knowledge of local and national policies and procedures e.g. Manual Handling, Chartered Society of Physiotherapists/Health and Care Professions Council Code of Conduct/Ethics, Health and Safety, Infection Control, CPR, Equality and Diversity
- Evidence of Continual Professional Development
- Experience of and commitment to interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary team working
- Experience of supervision of students and assistants
- Evidence of contribution to clinical education and in-service training of less experienced staff/students and assistants
- Understanding of clinical effectiveness and its implications for services including experience of quality issues, audit and evidence based practice
- Demonstrate knowledge of safeguarding practices relevant to the clinical area
Desirable criteria
- To have attended a clinical educators course
- Knowledge of the working of community and Intermediate Care Services
- Evidence of participation in research
