Job overview

Clinical Trials Physician –  Research across MFT primarily based at the NIHR Manchester Clinical Research Facility.

We require an enthusiastic and committed Clinical Trials Physician to provide medical cover across the research trial portfolio at MFT. The successful candidate will be supported and mentored through Manchester CRF  North Manchester, Wythenshawe, MRI and RMCH Hospitals,  with supervision provided by senior Principal Investigators and the Medical Directors of the Facility. The candidate may be required to work across the MFT campus supporting strategically important research studies.

Candidates that are non-GMC registered at the point of application will be considered for this position, under the Trusts International Fellowship Scheme (please note, there is a £500 admin charge for this scheme). More information re this scheme can be found on our website – link in job description.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience in a broad range of trial methodologies, including early and later phase clinical trials in areas including, but not limited to;  Respiratory Medicine, Rheumatic Diseases, Rare Conditions  and COVID treatment/vaccines and device and diagnostic studies.

The candidate will work within a large specialist centre and the post would be an excellent introduction for those considering a future career in research or who want to expand their CV and experience.

The post is suitable for core trainees and those who are seeking time out of a training programme. On discussion with the successful candidate, additional clinical experience in a speciality of your choice could be arranged to facilitate maintenance of clinical skills, and MFT hosts a wide range of leading tertiary clinical services.

There is no on-call requirement, though opportunities exist to contribute to the out-of-hours clinical on-call rota, and we are also happy to discuss flexible working arrangements.

The successful applicant will receive training and experience in GCP, trial protocols and vaccine studies. They will be supervised by leading academics and encouraged to develop research interests of their own. The post is not approved for credit towards training, but will allow the successful candidate to gain extensive clinical research experience.

Applicants are encouraged to visit the NIHR Clinical Research Facility for an informal visit.
