We are offering an exciting opportunity for qualified pharmacists and those looking to make the move from community or acute hospital trusts into the world of Mental Health Secondary Care. This rotational post will give you experience working across many of our sites over Trafford, Salford, North Manchester, Prestwich. This role will help you build up your skills and prepare you for a career in Hospital Pharmacy and Mental Health going into the future. There is also the in-built opportunity to progress to a band 7 post based on competencies shown.

Main duties of the job

We have the opportunity for enthusiastic pharmacists to join our well-established clinical pharmacy team and help provide excellent care to the patients of Greater Manchester.

Mental health experience is not essential as full training will be offered in house.

Following investment in our pharmacy service and upcoming implementation of our EPMA system, this is a fantastic time to join our expanding team

Working for our organisation

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 6,400 members of staff, who deliver services from more than 160 locations.

We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond as well as prison pharmacy services to a number of prisons throughout the North West.

The main site is at Prestwich Hospital where the specialist services are based and satellite pharmacies operate elsewhere within the Trust. We issue over 120,000 items a year, at a value of in excess of £2 million from the department. You will be an integral member of the Pharmacy Team, supported by colleagues leading inpatient, Forensic, Adolescent, Drug & Alcohol and Later Life pharmacy services.

Working within the pharmacy team will offer you support to develop your expertise and skills through formal training courses, supervision and regular appraisals. Our team has a wealth of clinical knowledge in a wide range of clinical specialities with a strong team of senior pharmacists. We have excellent links with local universities and as well as a variety of clinical national networks.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GPhC registered pharmacist
  • 4 year Masters Degree or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Multidisciplinary working
  • Experience of working in a hospital or community pharmacy
Desirable criteria
  • Supervising staff
  • Recent hospital clinical experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Basic knowledge of mental health therapeutics
Desirable criteria
