Specialist Dietician - Neuro Rehabilitation
Band 7
Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and forward-thinking Dietitian to jointly lead the strategic delivery and ongoing development of dietetic services within Neuro Rehabilitation across the Northern Care Alliance, primarily based at Salford Royal.
You will be a senior member of the large and well-established Salford dietetic service, which comprises almost 70 staff across acute and community settings. Based within the Manchester Centre of Clinical Neurosciences — one of the busiest neurosciences services in the UK — this role offers access to strong professional support, leadership development and ongoing specialist CPD.
The post holder will provide expert clinical leadership to a complex and highly specialist neuro rehabilitation caseload, supporting patients with conditions including neurosurgery, trauma, spinal injury, neuro-oncology and neurology. Many patients require nutrition support, including enteral feeding, texture-modified diets and tailored nutritional interventions to optimise rehabilitation outcomes, including weight management.
Working in partnership with the other part-time Neuro Rehabilitation Dietetic Lead, you will lead a dedicated sub-team including Band 6 and Band 5 dietitians, with input from a dietetic assistant and rehab instructors.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for driving high-quality, evidence-based care and service development across the full neuro rehabilitation pathway, including Level 1 hyperacute and acute wards (C2 and L1) at Salford, and Level 2 post-acute units at the Floyd Unit (Rochdale) and Devonshire Unit (Stockport).
This role requires close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and wider neurosciences services to support patient-centred care, best-interest decision making and continuity throughout the rehabilitation journey. The post holder will act as a senior clinical and professional lead within the neurosciences dietetic team, providing expert advice, line management, supervision and mentorship to junior staff, and contributing to workforce development and student training.
This is an exciting time of growth for neuro rehabilitation dietetics, with opportunities to shape and influence future service delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in quality improvement, service development and research activity, supporting the continued evolution of dietetic practice within neurosciences.
If you are a highly motivated, compassionate and strategic dietetic practitioner looking to further develop your leadership and specialist expertise, we would be delighted to receive your application. Informal visits and enquiries are warmly welcomed
