You should have a sound knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, be able to demonstrate competency in the use of ICD10 and OPCS4 classifications, be proficient in the use of digital systems and have a thorough understanding of national clinical coding standards and conventions.

The role will require some interaction and collaboration with clinical and divisional staff to ensure data is accurately recorded in accordance with national standards.
Applications for a Band 5 role will only be considered from ACC qualified coders and you must be able to demonstrate experience of coding across a wide range of specialties for an acute NHS Trust as well as evidence of attending a Refresher course within the last 3 years.
If you don’t have ACC but have significant experience of cross-specialty coding and are working towards obtaining your NCCQ we will consider you for a band 4 role, however you will be expected to achieve your ACC status within a set timeframe before progression to a band 5.
