Job overview
We are seeking a nurse of any discipline to join our Partnership team with a focus on assessment, diagnosis and management of Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. You will provide a range of high-quality assessments and interventions appropriate to the child or young person’s needs which will include; neuro-developmental assessment, mental state assessment, risk assessment and management, family and social assessment, consultation, formulation and evidence based interventions.
The post holder will have a range of skills and knowledge base to deliver clinical aspects of the role in a multi-disciplinary team setting and will be competent to do this work as an autonomous practitioner within professional practice guidelines. The post holder is also expected to promote and develop partnerships and interface with other professionals and agencies that work within the Child and Adolescent Mental Health THRIVE Framework with particular emphasis on ADHD.
Main duties of the job
To assume responsibility for management of a defined caseload and exercise the highest standards of professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children, young people and their families/carers using specialist knowledge and evaluation of care programmes in collaboration with children, young people and their families/carers liaising with and referring to relevant agencies.
To undertake assessment of children and young people including neurodevelopmental assessment, risk assessment, gathering appropriate information their family/ carers and other relevant agencies. Use computer based assessment tools and interpret the data.
To develop a formulation and plan for intervention with the child, young person and parents/carers. Communicate this to the referrer/other relevant professionals.
To participate in a duty rota including receipt and screening of referrals, obtaining further information if needed and responding promptly to emergency requests for assessments or contact, signposting, and advice.
To implement, co-ordinate and regularly review a range of therapeutic, evidence based interventions, including risk management, in line with NICE guidelines.
To ensure that the perspective of children, young people and families is incorporated into all aspects of assessment and treatment.
The role involves travel to other locations within MFT and within the local community.

Essential criteria
- Experience of working with people with mental health difficulties
- Experience of assessing and managing risk: including safeguarding
- Experience of developing and providing evidenced based assessments, formulations and care plans
- Experience of liaison and working with a range of other relevant agencies and professionals
- Experience of mentoring and supervision
- Understanding of the principles of Clinical Governance and a willingness to follow Trust Policy and Procedures
- Experience of following organisational policies and procedures
