We are one of the busiest university teaching hospital trusts in North West England. We manage three hospitals based on two sites: the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Liverpool University Dental Hospital and Broadgreen Hospital. Our hospitals have often been at the forefront of medical breakthroughs during our long history at the heart of the city.
Currently Liverpool has two acute Hospital trusts operating over 4 sites; Aintree University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (AUHFT) and Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Hospital (RLBUHT) which also looks after Liverpool University Dental Hospital.
The trusts, who have a history of collaborative working to fit the needs of the patients of Liverpool and the North West, have identified additional ways to improve the quality and sustainability of services through further partnership. Our doctors, nurses and health professionals have developed a consistent clinical view that it would be in the best interest of patients if they worked as single clinical teams, delivering the same standards of care, in the same way, across hospital sites. This has led to a proposal for both organisations to come together as one, through a formal merger.
It is an exciting time of change for our trusts as we take the best of both organisations to deliver outstanding care for our patients. We also have a focus on staff, with an ambition to make the new organisation the best place for staff to train and work. Merger brings with it an opportunity to reconfigure services, provide more diverse opportunities for career development and attract more research funding, leading to enhancement of staff skills by delivering and performing more innovative treatments and taking part in clinical trials. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Sonographer to join our friendly team at the Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust.

Sonographers have the opportunity for a varied clinical rotation working in primary, secondary and tertiary centres across 4 sites in central Liverpool.
The Royal Liverpool University Hospital is a large teaching hospital and is situated near the city centre accommodating a large Accident & Emergency Department.
There is an opportunity to undertake a wide range of clinical work and as part of our busy general workload our sonographers have built up special interest in hernia, gynaecological, head & neck, testicular, vascular access, renal transplant, lithotripsy (ESWL), vascular and MSK ultrasound.

Successful applicants must have the DMU/PG Diploma/Certificate in diagnostic medical ultrasound or equivalent. HPC registration is preferred and registration on the voluntary SCoR Sonographer register will be expected.
There is scope to work extended Saturday/Sunday/Bank Holidays. Full time and part time positions available.
