Job overview
The Division of Neurosurgery at The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust (WCFT) is seeking to recruit a Consultant Neurosurgeon with an interest in Complex Spine. The successful candidate will work independently within the Complex Spine service.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work independently within the Spinal services, joining a 1:12 Complex Spine take rota and participate in Spinal MDT meetings. The successful candidate will provide general on-call neurosurgical cover (1:19).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
There will be a 1 in 19 on call rota for all neurosurgical referrals from the region, in which the successful candidate would be expected to participate.
The surgeons currently work in teams for the purposes of service organisation, audit, and distribution of junior staff at WCFT.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- FRCS or equivalent
- Spinal fellowship
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of relevant operative procedures undertaken (eg logbooks): Satisfactory operative experience to perform emergency general neurosurgical procedures and spinal procedures
- Previous Spinal experience at Consultant Level
Personality
Essential criteria

- Good communication and excellent interpersonal skills with patients, relatives and all members of the clinical team
