An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic individual Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our team. The North West Regional Spinal Injuries Centre at Southport hospital provides specialist care for spinal patients from across the North West, North Wales and the Isle of Man. We invite applications for a WTE permanent post within the spinal cord injury/neurological rehabilitation therapy team.
The candidate will need to be an experienced occupational therapist clinician who has had experience working with spinal cord injuries and neurological conditions.

Main duties of the job
- To assess and treat patients within the ward or Community setting.
- To assist Clinical Therapy Manager/Team Leader in service development and the provision of a quality service.
- To take responsibility for junior members of staff and delegate duties as necessary, providing appropriate level of support at all times.
- To meet the Therapy and Community and Continued Care Service objectives.
- To cover for absence when required within the Community and Departments of Southport & Ormskirk Hospital Trust
- To take part in the weekend rota if applicable.

Essential criteria
- Degree in OT or equilivant
- HCPC registration
- Evidence of relevant post-graduate courses/CPD
Desirable criteria
- fieldwork/practice educator qualification

Essential criteria
- Post qualification & NHS experience in specialist field
- Membership/participant of relevant Special Interest group
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to work autonomously independently and with MDT
- Excellent time management, prioritisation skills and self management
- Ability to delegate appropriately and supervise junior staff
- Good clinical reasoning skills, assessment and treatment to problem solve and make decisions
- Awareness of up-to-date NHS issues, clinical governance relating to therapy
Desirable criteria
- Effective teaching and presentation skills
Physical Effort
Essential criteria
- Physically able to fulfil physical activities/duties with complex patients in a variety of settings
- Be able to carry out moving and handling with complex patients using equipment eg hoists or specialist medical devicess
