Job overview

To provide efficient and effective secretarial support to consultant radiologists and to the department of Radiology in the Princess of Wales Hospital.  You may asked to travel to other sites to support if and when required.

 

To work as part of a team and to work for named consultants, providing first point of contact for letters, reports, telephone calls and e-mails.

Main duties of the job

This post is structured around 4 core functions to include:

  • Typing of Consultants correspondence, documentation, reports.
  • Management of Consultant diaries. Oversee timely appointments for patients by way of liaising with clerical and clinical staff
  • Work alongside other health professionals and provide an efficient service to all users.
  • Providing RadIS/PACS administration support.

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to use RadIS software
  • RSA/NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent skills and Knowledge
  • Knowledge of full range of secretarial procedures

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working within a hospital/caring environment as a medical secretary.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of supervising staff.

Aptitude and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills – ability to liaise competently with stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Motivated and reliable team member
  • Ability to speak Welsh

Other

Essential criteria
  • Ability to travel within geographical area in a timely manner.
  • Able to work hours flexibly
