Main duties of the job
As the ward manager, you will be expected to lead and work closely with all members of the ward team. You will ensure excellent team working across the whole of the multi disciplinary team and have the energy, commitment and desire to develop others in a multi-disciplinary setting. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and will need to provide evidence of continuous professional development.
The successful candidate should have good clinical and managerial knowledge and skills. They will need to have a passion for excellence and be a role model to the existing team, ensuring the University Health Board (UHB) values and behaviours are embedded. They must be flexible, approachable, compassionate and able to manage their time effectively. The candidate should have a proven history of providing supervision to nursing staff.
The successful candidate will receive support in their new role; this will be provided by the lead and senior nurse. We are committed to the development of all our staff and supportive of further personal development.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
