It is an exciting time for therapies within Cwm Taf Morgannwg. We are seeking a dynamic, motivated and innovative Team Lead Occupational Therapist to join our integrated multi-professional, national award winning service.
The Occupational Therapist within the Stay Well At Home Team works closely with the Physiotherapist, Social Workers and Support Workers to provide a rapid response service to people attending the Emergency Care Department and Acute Medical Unit.
The overall aim of the service is to avoid unnecessary hospital admissions and supporting timely discharges using a discharge to assess model.
The Stay Well @ Home Service is a 7 day service which allows this post holder to work flexibly across the service Monday- Friday, extended hours. These hours will be agreed upon a success recruitment.
Main duties of the job
It is an exciting time for therapies within Cwm Taf Morgannwg. We are seeking a dynamic, motivated and innovative Team Lead Occupational Therapist to join our integrated multi-professional, national award winning service.
The Team Lead Occupational Therapist within the Stay Well At Home Team works closely with the Physiotherapist, Social Workers and Support Workers to provide a rapid response service to people attending the Emergency Care Department, Clinical Decisions Unit, Acute Medical Unit and Wards. They will also be responsible for providing leadership across the Occupational Therapy division of the service. This will include routine management of operational issues, maintaining high levels of quality and supporting the line manager and Principal OT in identifying and implementing service improvement at times working across traditional Health and Social Care boundaries

This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. Qualifications and/or Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Post graduate training in clinical education.
Desirable criteria
- Postgraduate qualification in relevant area
- Interest and involvement in quality, audit and service evaluation.
- Detailed understanding of the principles of partnership working.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience in specialist area related to post.
- Significant experience of clinical/team leadership.
- Extensive clinical experience.
- Experience of supervision of new/less experienced/support staff/students
Desirable criteria
- Awareness of current professional issues
- Experience of advising/teaching
Aptitude and Abilities
Essential criteria
- Ability to lead a team.
- Ability to reflect and objectively appraise own and others performance.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate to overcome barriers
- Autonomous practitioner with excellent personal organisational skills for caseload management, and case management including time management and prioritisation skills.
- Demonstrable clinical reasoning skills, and able to make effective clinical decisions following assessment of complex cases.
- Able to engage and lead a professional team.
- Ability to cope with exposure to challenging work environments.
Desirable criteria
- Welsh Language Skills (Level 3 and above/B2) are Desirable for this Role.
