Job overview

Now is a great time to join the Finance Department in Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.  We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join the business partnering team covering  Diagnostics, Therapies and Specialties.

As a Finance professional keen to make a difference, you will be an integral part of delivering the Health Board's strategy by partnering with our Healthcare Science Care Group and providing high quality financial advice, support and direction to managers, clinical and scientific staff. 

The successful candidate will need to be proactive, have a desire to learn the business of their area of responsibility and be able to develop good working relationships with, as well as providing assistance and advice to, Managers, Directors and other stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

Covering all aspects of financial performance to ensure effective financial management for the Clinical Service Group:

  • Working with clinical and management teams to deliver value for money; service change; support production of robust business cases and develop financial plans in accordance with the Health Board’s annual planning process
  • Responsibility for the setting and maintaining of budgets for the allocated Clinical Service Group within agreed budgetary approach
  • Assist the Assistant Director of Finance and Senior Finance Manager in the continual search for improvements in efficiency, value, effectiveness and problem solving
  • Facilitate a robust control environment, providing training and support to budget holders where required

The post is permanent and full time, working 37.5 hours per week.  This will follow a hybrid working model split between home and office working. The finance offices are currently located at Dewi Sant Hospital in Pontypridd. The post will service a range of meetings with colleagues, both virtual and in person. Face to face meetings with service leads could be at sites across the Health Board footprint.

The Finance department has a comprehensive staff development programme and is committed to providing support and continuing professional development opportunities to the whole Finance team.
