Job overview

The James Paget Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to recruit a Building & Carpentry Tradesperson to join their busy Estates & Planning Department.

We are seeking a highly motivated & professional individual to work full time over 5 days. The successful candidates will participate in the maintenance of the hospitals building structure and fabric.

You will assist a multi-skilled team of tradespeople in carrying out maintenance within a range of healthcare buildings, working in close proximity to patients and the general public, therefore good communication skills are essential.

Main duties of the job

You will undertake a range of building and carpentry based tasks, including the repair and routine maintenance of the building fabric & structure, whilst at all times observing all relevant Health and Safety Guidelines and Regulations.

You will be expected to possess relevant qualifications as identified within the Person Specification and/or be able to demonstrate proven practical knowledge through experience.

You will have a flexible approach and be able to work well within an established maintenance team undertaking overtime when required. You will demonstrate a good knowledge of working in building maintenance and repairs and have experience of using a range of woodworking machinery and tools.

 

 

 

Working for our organisation

The successful candidate will be required to work at various sites owned by the Trust within the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area therefore you must hold a valid UK driving license and have the ability to work with the minimum of supervision and under strict health and safety conditions.

You may also be required to undertake emergency situation repairs. You will also be required to work on your own after having gained experience of the sites.

The role may also involve maintenance tasks that may require a competency in working at height and confined spaces.

A willingness to undertake further training in relation to the role is essential, including all Mandatory Training. You must be numerate and literate, with good written skills. You must possess a flexible approach to work and be able to work overtime at short notice when required.
