NNUH is currently the busiest Trauma Unit in the East of England caring for almost 850 trauma patients annually many with complex care needs. We are enhancing our urgent and emergency care specialist services for patients with significant injuries as a result of trauma and have an ambition to become a Major Trauma Centre.

Dermatology Out-Patients is a very busy department. Offering a mix of general, surgical and nurse-led clinics. The Registered Nursing Associate role in Dermatology is varied with the opportunity to work in all clinics with registered staff nurse support.

We are a friendly, dynamic team and offer a comprehensive competency pack for the successful candidate to undertake.

This role is primarily based at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, we do have a dermatology clinic at Cromer Hospital and any future expansion of the services may present an opportunity for cross site working. 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The Registered Nursing Associate works closely with medical and nursing colleagues to offer dermatological care in a variety of settings. 

In general clinics the RNA will support the clinician in caring for the patients’ needs and arranging any additional testing and ensuring the patient is on the correct clinical pathway.

In surgical clinics the RNA will surgically assist the clinician in operating lists, biopsies, excisions with flap and graft repairs and micrographic surgery are all undertaken in dermatology.

In nurse led clinics the RNA will work under the alongside supervision of a staff nurse in dressing and admission avoidance clinics supporting patients post operatively or with dermatological conditions.

Appropriate training and a supernumerary period will be offered based on the successful candidate’s needs.

  • To provide and monitor safe, person centred care to a designated group of patients, service users and families in a range of care settings under the direction of a registered nurse, without direct supervision in line with an agreed plan of care

  • To support the registered nurse by contributing to integrated care of on-going assessment and care planning for patients

  • To promote health and prevent ill health in patients and service users and contribute to integrated care

  • To monitor the condition and health needs of patients on a continual basis in partnership with colleagues, families and carers, referring to others for reassessment, when required

  • The nursing associate will actively contribute to an effective learning environment and support others in their learning
