Job overview

Senior Clinical Fellow (STR3+ equivalent)

This a new full time Senior Clinical Fellow post for 6 months in response to service needs.

This is a 6-month post working in the Department of Neurology as a Senior Clinical Fellow (ST3/IMT3 equivalent).  The postholder will work alongside the neurology trainees and junior doctors, with clinical responsibilities including clerking non-elective patients admitted under neurology, providing clinical support in the day-to-day care and management of neurology inpatients under the supervision of the neurology consultants, and completing discharge summaries. The ability to perform lumbar punctures is highly desirable.

The postholder will be expected to participate in the neurology on-call rota which consists of day shifts on Saturday and Sunday one weekend in 6, under the supervision of the on-call consultant.

Main duties of the job

Provision will be made to allow participation in some outpatient neurology clinics.  There is a weekly educational departmental meeting which the postholder is encouraged to attend and an excellent neuroradiology meeting each Thursday morning in which inpatient neuroradiology is discussed.

In addition, some GIM work will be undertaken.  Currently, this consists of 2-week blocks in acute medicine.  It is expected that the post holder would undertake two such blocks within the 6-month locum period.

A candidate who is unable for personal reasons to undertake the duties of a whole-time post will receive equal consideration.  If such a candidate is appointed the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.

We welcome all applications irrespective of age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race or religion.  Additionally, people with disabilities will be offered an interview providing they meet the minimum criteria for the post.  The Trust operates job share and flexible working.
