Radiology Department Assistant – Band 3
Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) & Cromer District Hospital
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Radiology Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) and Cromer District Hospital as a Band 3 Radiology Department Assistant (RDA).
The Radiology Department is part of the Diagnostic and Clinical Support Services division and plays a vital role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging across a wide range of specialties within the Trust.

The successful candidate will be flexible and have excellent communication skills, speaking with patients, colleagues and team members, and the wider multi-disciplinary team within the Hospital Trust.
This role involves assisting with all aspects of Imaging including preparing patients for examinations, helping to position patients for examinations, assisting with interventional procedures, including assisting with biopsies and drainages as required, and you will be trained to perform cannulation on patients prior to CT and MRI examinations. Supporting paediatric lists will also be apart of this role.
The role is patient focused so good communication is essential to assist patients and to demonstrate care and empathy to those who are unwell or distressed, helping them through the Imaging process.
The post holder will contribute to the provision of a high standard of care for patients and carry out some duties unaided, in accordance with Trust/Directorate policy, at the discretion of qualified staff.
This is role will rotate on a roster basis throughout the department including MRI, CT, Plain Film and Ultrasound, the rotation will include shifts at NNUH, The CDC (Community diagnostic centre) and Cromer District Hospital as required.
There are various shifts which cover the 24-hour period including some night shifts, over seven days of the week, inclusive of Bank Holidays.

- Under the supervision of radiographers assist with all aspects of imaging, including changing patients in preparation for examination and explaining procedures.
- Perform cannulation on patients prior to CT, MRI and IVU examinations.
- Assist radiographers in the positioning of patients for examinations.
- Prepare and maintain trolleys for biopsies and to assist with biopsies, drainages, as and when the need arises.
- Participate in Muscoskeletal Steroid Injections in Ultrasound.

Qualifications

- NVQ level 3 or equivalent, relevant assessed experience.
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology.
- Understand and demonstrate the fundamentals of Radiation Protection
Experience

- Previous experience as a Band 2 Radiographic Assistant within the Radiology Department.
