The Respiratory Medicine directorate has an exciting opportunity to join the diverse and friendly admin team as an Apprentice Receptionist. 

The forward-thinking and developing department incorporates new and exciting areas of interest including lung cancer, sleep, interstitial lung disease, emphysema, cystic fibrosis, oxygen, COPD, tuberculosis; as well as a vibrant outpatient department, respiratory investigation unit, lung function lab and a large inpatient footprint, all innovated collaboratively between the clinical, nursing and administrative teams. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, pro-active and organised to join our vibrant and supportive team.

Main duties of the job

You will provide assistance within the Reception team.  Greeting patients, checking them in for their appointments, helping to prep clinics.  Also updating PAS accordingly. 

We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an Apprentice and gain experience in the NHS.  You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.

You will be enrolled with a local education provider and will be required to complete your Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard qualification within the duration of the placement.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must be:  

  • Aged 16+
  • Resident in the UK/EEA for the last three consecutive years
  • Must not have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level or above
  • Must not be in any form of formal government-funded education
  • upon the start of their apprenticeship

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Good general standard of education
  • 4 GCSE’s at Grade D/3 or above (or equivalent) subject to the job specification
  • Good standard of literacy and numeracy
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good IT skills
