NNUH is currently the busiest Trauma Unit in the East of England caring for almost 850 trauma patients annually many with complex care needs. We are enhancing our urgent and emergency care specialist services for patients with significant injuries as a result of trauma and have an ambition to become a Major Trauma Centre.

We currently have Bank vacancies on our Inpatient Children’s Ward - Buxton Ward, our Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU) and our Children's Day Ward (CDW). Working for our Nurse Bank gives you flexibility and variety across our wards and departments. 

Our Jenny Lind Children’s Hospital incorporates Children’s Inpatient, Ambulatory, Emergency, Neonatal and Outpatient care. We treat children and young people across a broad range of specialties including Paediatric Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, plastics and much more. We also have a dedicated Surgical and medical HDU. Our collaborative team care to children living in Norfolk and for those accessing specialist treatments across the Eastern Region.

The Children’s Assessment Unit and Buxton Ward are open 24/7 and the Children’s Day Ward is open Monday – Friday 07:30-20:00.

As a Bank Paediatric Nurse you will have a full induction with supernumerary time and once in post, will be expected to work 1-2 shifts per month. 

Main duties of the job

To work with all members of the Ward/Department clinical team within the multi-disciplinary framework. Maintain a high standard of patient care under the direction of the Ward/Department Sister/Charge Nurse.

To act as a leader in the clinical area, in the absence of a more senior member of staff. To work in accordance with the principles laid down by the Nursing/Midwifery professional bodies and Trust Policies.
