This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated nurse who would like to develop their knowledge and skills within epilepsy nursing working 30hrs per week. We are pleased to be able to advertise a new epilepsy nurse specialist role to join our already well established Neurology specialist nursing team which consists of x2 Parkinson’s nurses and a multiple Sclerosis nurse. The candidate shall be expected to work within our neurology specialist nursing team that provides interventions and clinics to patients presenting with a range of neurological disorders

Main duties of the job

In September 2022 the West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts (WYAAT) established a transformation programme for neurology services across our origin. This is an exciting time to be part of a multi-professional team delivering innovative and transformative services as part of the West Yorkshire Neurology Network (WYNN). This role shall contribute to the change programme, and pathways of care through new and innovative ways of working and may be required to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering care across the patch

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The successful candidate shall work within NICE guidance and ESNA competencies to develop the epilepsy service at Harrogate Hospital whilst collaborating with the Centre for Neurosciences clinical nurse specialists at Leeds to ensure up to date training, development, succession planning and governance. You will aim to be working as an independent practitioner providing holistic, evidenced based practice to patients with a diagnosis of epilepsy, at all stages throughout their disease process. Responsibilities will also include providing education and support to patients, carers and colleagues.   • Minimum of three years post registration experience
  • Up to date knowledge of epilepsy management and treatment options
  • NMC Registration
Desirable criteria
  • Recent leadership experience
  • 18 months working within neurology or related speciality
  • Epilepsy related diploma/ degree module
  • Non-medical Prescribing
