Job overview

We're looking for a skilled and motivated Network Engineer – Voice to join our ICT Network Team. You’ll play a key role in maintaining and supporting our converged voice and data infrastructure across over 95 NHS sites — with a focus on structured cabling, switching, WiFi, Voice and fibre networks.

Main duties of the job

  • First-line support for voice network issues
  • Manage and document structured cabling systems
  • Manage the WiFi installation
  • Liaise with contractors and service teams
  • Support project delivery using PRINCE2 methodology
  • Help maintain a robust, resilient network supporting critical healthcare services

What we’re looking for:
Experience in telecoms and cabling
Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
Strong foundational Knowledge of voice/data networks
Cisco or PRINCE2 experience (desirable)

Training and experience

Essential criteria
  • 2 years’ experience as a Telecoms engineer in an enterprise environment.
  • 2 years’ experience of the installation and maintenance of structured cabling systems

Knowledge, Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Education to A level or equivalent or equivalent experience
  • Has demonstrable knowledge of the installation and maintenance of voice and data infrastructures
  • Achieved ECDL basic

Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate technical issues with peers, users and specialist contractors
  • Demonstrable experience of working within a team

Analytical and judgemental skills

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience of troubleshooting telecoms infrastructure problems and assist in capacity planning.
