Due to the expansion of our Adult Intensive Care Unit at The Queens Medical Centre campus we are recruiting a static band 6 Physiotherapist to support the provision of physiotherapy services within the Adult Intensive Care Unit (AICU) and the wider team.
This is an exciting, permanent opportunity for a Full Time band 6 to work within a well-established team.
The successful candidate will be involved in the day to day management of patients within a 29 bedded Level 3 AICU. You will be competent in managing the respiratory and rehabilitation needs of a critical care patient, as part of the MDT. You will be expected to lead the team in the absence of a band 7, and contribute to service development and the development of more junior staff. You will need to be flexible at adapting to meet the needs of the team which may require you to cover clinical work on the wards outside of critical care.
You will have opportunities to be part of the development of our critical care rehabilitation service including Long Term Ward Round, pilot COVID-19 follow up clinic, development of the role of therapy support workers and to work alongside our newly appointed Critical Care Occupational Therapist. You will also have the opportunity to assist in the development of on call and junior staff through a comprehensive training program, of theoretical and practical sessions using the critical care simulation suite.
The successful candidate will have completed a broad range of rotations at band 5 level, including Respiratory, Health Care of the Older Person, Neurology and Orthopaedics. You will also have had experience of working in critical care at a band 6 level, with experience in managing Neurological, Spinal and Major Trauma patients.
