This role would be ideal for an existing band 6 looking to consolidate their knowledge and skills when working with patients who have complex, long-term medical conditions or an experienced band 5 with relevant inpatient mileage who may be considering a career in inpatient services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for their own inpatient caseload as well as supporting band 5 therapists, support workers and students. They will work within a senior structure that provides peer support and training.
This role would be ideal for a highly motivated professional who has an interest in inpatient care and developing broad skills across specialties. Experience of service development and leadership qualities is desirable but these skills will be developed in this role.
Main duties of the job
This role will provide a high standard of physiotherapy input to patients within respiratory, renal, oncology, haematology, infectious diseases and palliative care, working flexibly across existing pathways.
The successful candidate must be able to assess and treat patients with a range of conditions, including acute respiratory needs and be comfortable in providing training and teaching. You should be comfortable with complex discharges, MDT working and advocating for patients whilst role modelling NUH values in their everyday practice.
You will contribute to the out of hours respiratory rota at City Campus, NUH. This includes late shifts (1pm - 9pm), on-calls and weekend working (approx.1 per month).
Up-skilling and supervision of other staff is essential to this role.
You will be expected to provide student supervision and previous experience is preferred. The successful candidate will be supported to attend a course on clinical education if required.
