The Trust comprises of four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

Our values, standards and behaviours define the quality of clinical care we offer and the professional relationships we make with our patients, colleagues and the wider community. We call this Delivering Compassionate Excellence and its focus is on our values of compassion, respect, learning, delivery, improvement and excellence. These values put patients at the heart of what we do and underpin the quality healthcare we would like for ourselves or a member of our family. Job overview

The Cardiothoracic unit at the John Radcliffe Hospital performs 700 adult cardiac surgical cases per annum.  As well as the usual range of myocardial revascularization and valve replacement procedures, the case mix comprises complex thoracic aortic surgery, mini mitral valve repair, minimally invasive coronary and valve surgery, and off-pump coronary surgery.

The Department of Clinical Perfusion provides additional support when required to the Cardiology Angiography Suite, and is working alongside Cardiologists and Intensivists on an emerging MCS program for Cardiogenic Shock.

The Department is currently looking to recruit a Senior Clinical Perfusionist, making a total establishment of 9 qualified perfusionists and 2 trainees.

The Clinical Perfusion team are currently supporting our 8th and 9th Bristol MSc trainees as they progress through their training.  The ability to provide mentoring and pastoral support to our students is a key part of this role.

The position is full time permanent contract based around a 4-day working week, but the department is optimized for work life balance and open to discussing part time or flexible and work patterns also.  Participation in the on-call rota will be required – this is currently at a frequency of 1:6 with 4.5% uplift and additional calls paid hourly on NHSP.  Please ask for details.

Informal enquiries and visits are welcome from appropriately qualified individuals.
