To provide efficient and effective administration support to the Public Health Nursing Team.  The purpose of the post is to provide clerical support for the team.  The post holder will be expected to ensure that all clerical functions are carried out to the highest quality standards and within the deadlines applicable to that particular area of work.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide an efficient, effective and streamlined clerical support service to the 0-19 Team.
  • To provide a "first" point of contact for some queries into the health  team.  This can be via telephone, electronic media and in person.  Queries can be from parents, relatives, other organisations, general public and staff.  This may involved dealing with anxious or upset family members.
  • To take responsibility for keeping up to date and reviewing your personal development needs and objectives on a regular basis including participating in reviews with your manager at lease on a 12 monthly basis.
  • Behaves consistently with the values and beliefs of the organisation and promotes these on a day to day basis.
  • Maintains emotional resilience and maturity with the occasional exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances.

Essential criteria
  • Good knowledge of medical terminology.
  • RSA/OCR Stage III word processing/typing or equivalent
  • ECDL or equivalent qualification or experience.
  • Able to demonstrate a good level of English language and grammar commensurate with composing own letter/reports & ability to correct other correspondence as necessary.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working within a clerical/admin role.
  • Evidence of working with Microsoft.
  • Experience of data entering.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good communication skills at all levels.
