We are expanding our team of Clinical Healthcare Support Workers band 3 at Frome Medical Practice and we’re inviting caring, supportive people to take a look at this exciting opportunity to join us.

Our Clinical Health Care Support Workers are integral to our nursing teams. It takes flexibility, commitment and compassion, but in return we can offer you a rewarding career where you can really make a difference.

Previous healthcare experience is of benefit, however not essential. We provide all the training you need before you start working in Frome Medical practice. 

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Healthcare Support Worker you will be a core member of the team delivering personal care, both clinical and non-clinical, to patients. You’ll also be key in supporting patients with their own self-care and independence.

You'll work under the guidance of a healthcare professional such as a nurse. Your daily duties will be varied to include:

  • Contribute to patient assessments such as blood pressure monitoring, oxygen saturation levels, body temperature, ECGs, venepuncture and cannulation
  • Recording your actions accurately in patient notes.
  • Use of electronic equipment such as computer on wheels, IPR.
  • Taking bloods

The skills we are looking for:

  • You need to be able to understand and communicate both verbally and in writing in English
  • You don’t need any formal qualifications in maths but you will need to have numerical and analytic skills to do patient observations, and totaling of fluid balance.
  • You will need to have a customer focused approach which is essential to providing patients with the best possible experience
  • You will need to be able to use IT systems and databases
  • You will have the skill to focus on the details with the ability to spot problems. You will know when you are able to correct or when to escalate.
