Housekeepers support the Nursing Staff to provide an appropriate environment for patient care. Duties will include general cleaning of all Ward/Departmental areas and the preparation and presentation and service of Patients meals.

Housekeepers will be expected to demonstrate a flexible attitude to their work to meet the needs of the Ward and the Patients.

Our hours for morning workers are from 10:00 to 18:00

All shifts are 5 days over 7 days working.

GHSA (General Hotel Services Assistants) are expected to help out with all cleaning and catering related activities at ward level, where there may be constant distractions and contact with service users displaying disturbed and challenging behaviour on a frequent basis.

Swydd-ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

a) Housekeeping
1. General cleaning duties as required, including sanitary areas, bedrooms, communal areas and offices.
2. Regeneration and service of frozen meals and associated tasks, such as washing-up, cleaning kitchens and dining rooms.
b) Catering
1. To provide a Catering Service to support the Ward based Patients meal service and to prepare sandwiches, rolls, salads and snacks for Patients. 
2. To ensure the safe storage/handling of all food items including Cook-Freeze meals, ensuring compliance with Trust Policy and current Legislation.
3. To maintain a hygienic and clean condition of the Catering Department including associated areas, equipment and utensils.
c) Portering
1. To sort, pack and deliver Cook-Freeze meals, fresh and ambient goods and all associated catering items to Wards on a daily/weekly/as need basis. To ensure compliance with Trust Policy and Legislation.
2. To deliver/collect Function Catering items to various areas of the Unit as required ensuring compliance with Trust Policy and Legislation.
3. Collection and delivery between wards and departments of post, stores, laundry, pharmacy items, medical gases, pathological specimens and furniture and equipment.
4. Post duties including the collection, sorting and delivery of all postal items.

  • Able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic Numeracy Skills
  • Able to follow a written schedule of work
  • Able to work on own initiative and unsupervised
  • Able to complete essential training within agreed timescales to include Level 2 Food Hygiene and COSHH awareness
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of confidentiality

  • Previous experience of use of cleaning equipment
  • Previous experience of catering duties

  • NVQ1 in cleaning and support.
